When you are looking for a career or specific position (internship or job), you won’t get help if you don’t ask for it…or, as is the case for this site…follow it.
One way to get advice on a specific field like public health is to find someone who has a position or role or works in an organization that you admire or view as successful, and make a connection. You can do that via your network or with a “cold call” (or no connection).
I find that specific inquiries or questions get the best responses. Don’t just ask for advice or how someone became successful. If they have earned a public health degree, ask them if that degree helped them in their current position. Instead of asking about resources in general, look at the public health expert’s background and ask them about possible resources at organizations to which they are connected.
And, thank them nicely if they can’t or won’t help you :).
Good luck!
