In sum, China is allowing their press more freedom to expose food safety issues. While there is healthy (pun intended) skepticism on how long the Chinese press will have some flexibility on this, the opening is creating some buzz.
Food safety is one of the most fundamental public health issues. And, freedom of the press is one of the most fundamental rights in the U.S. This is yet another example of how integral public health is to many aspects of lives all over the world.
