In the midst of news about natural disasters, like recent earthquakes and tsunamis affecting Japan and other parts of the world, I am thankful for people who are paid to or volunteer to help. Fire fighters, police officers, doctors, hospital administrators, field epidemiologists and others train to rescue people, help people find loved ones, provide medical care, meet basic needs like access to clean water and much more.
Thank you to everyone who does this, including volunteers!!
